Hays Travel receives record 1,200 apprenticeship applications

A record of more than 1,200 applications have been received by Hays Travel for 110 apprenticeship places this year.

The independent agency has also received almost 50 applications for two graduate positions ahead of the closing date for applications on March 21.

Hays Travel is holding open days at a selection of branches, where anyone who is interested in the apprenticeship programme can meet NVQ assessors and current apprentices in order to gain an insight into apprenticeships with the company.

The company will take on 110 new apprentices and two graduates to start their training in the summer.

Apprentices will be placed in Hays and Bath Travel branches, as well as in a variety of head office roles.

The retail apprentices will go on to complete Travel Services Levels 2 and 3, while head office apprentices study towards a Business Admin Level 2 and Customer Service Level 2.

Head of training Katie Woods-Ruddick said: “Hays Travel offer a highly rewarding apprenticeship programme, which is the first step in what we hope to be a long and satisfying career with the company.

“We have so many success stories here at Hays of people joining us aged 16 and staying with us permanently, many of them going on to hold really senior positions in the company.

“We are delighted to have already received so many applications, which shows there is an increasing demand for people to join a programme like ours. It means we can provide lots of people with a rewarding career, and also ensures that we bring high quality recruits into the business.”

The apprentice training programme in-house in 2011 and has since received a positive Ofsted report as well as being honoured with a place in both the 2012 and 2013 Top 100 UK Apprenticeship Employers Lists.
