Travel Republic makes dual MD appointment

Travel Republic has announced the appointment of Ian Simmonds and Neale Chinery as joint managing directors as it launches a nationwide advertising campaign.

Simmonds took over as acting chief executive of Travel Republic in April following the departure of co-founder Paul Furner.

Furner had replaced fellow founder Kane Pirie at the helm of the OTA following the latter’s resignation in May 2013.

Their departure followed the company’s purchase by Dubai-based Dnata in 2012.

Simmonds has been at Travel Republic since 2009 and was previously chief financial officer. He will act as commercial managing director, overseeing finance, commerce and marketing.

Chinery has joined as managing director of operations, responsible for product and technology.

He was previously business solutions director at Kingfisher IT Services and has held positions at Thomas Cook, Tui Travel and Dixons Stores Group.

Travel Republic chairman Iain Andrew said: “Neale and Ian are experienced travel experts, with a deep understanding of the industry, technology, and how to continue Travel Republic’s reputation as an industry leader.

“The new senior management structure puts the business in a very strong position to continue its growth trajectory and expand its robust offering.”

The pair take their new roles as Travel Republic launches a nationwide brand campaign involving roadside, rail and national press advertising.

The campaign positions Travel Republic as ‘The Last Click’ for the holiday they want at a good price.
