Advantage board member elections ‘demonstrate commitment to consortium’

Two new directors have been elected to the Advantage Travel Centres board in a move hailed as demonstrating improved member commitment to the consortium.

Tim Brookes-Parry (Apex Travel) and Christian Gleave (Review Travel) were elected as non-executive directors to serve two years, while Jimmy Martin (Jimmy Martin Travel) was re-elected.

Brookes-Parry and Martin were elected to represent members whose annual leisure travel turnover is less than £5 million.

Gleave will represent members irrespective of minimum or maximum turnover or business type.

Advantage managing director Julia Lo Bue-Said said: “I have been overwhelmed by the level of interest shown by the membership in becoming board directors; having 11 candidates competing for three positions is extremely heartening.

“I am convinced this signals a clear intention that members wish to be more involved in the governance of the organisation.

“We also saw an increase in the number of votes cast by members during the election campaign which demonstrates an improved member commitment to Advantage overall.”
