New Thomas Cook UK MD announces management shake-up

New Thomas Cook UK managing director Salman Syed has announced a shake-up of the senior management team.

The company has made internal promotions across its product and yield, marketing, and transformation divisions to recognise “existing talent from within the organisation”.

Uli Sperl, who has led the UK product and yield team for the last two years, is returning to Germany to become head of transformation, central product unit, reporting into Christian Funk, group head of product.

Stefanie Berk has been promoted to product and yield director for the UK. Berk has worked for the group for several years and has held a number of senior continental roles including managing director of SENTIDO Hotels and Resorts and vice president of international hotel contracting.

Since joining the UK team in May as head of business development, Berk has been involved in the improvement of the company’s differentiated product concepts. The company said that under her leadership there will be more focus on developing the group’s differentiated products.

Reporting into Berk, will be Rob Rospedzihowski as head of merchandising. He was previously head of product for central Med and north Africa. He will lead the newly-created department in the product and yield division, in charge of delivering sales and revenue targets in retail and online for all inhouse products.

Jamie Queen has been promoted to the role of marketing and e-commerce director. He joined earlier this year as head of e-commerce. Previously he has worked at the AA and BGL Group. Queen will be responsible for UK marketing as well as digital developments.

Milan Wadher has been named UK director of transformation. Prior to Thomas Cook, Milan held senior roles at a number of well-known brands including Dixons Retail and Tesco.

Syed, appointed to  the UK MD role earlier this month, said: “These internal promotions are an important part of our move towards a management structure that reflects where we are in our transformation as we continue to drive the results required.”
