Air France pilots’ strike enters fourth day

Fewer than half of Air France flights are due to operate today (Thursday) as a week-long pilots strike continues to bite.

The fourth day for the industrial action will see only 42% of the airline’s schedule operating – a deterioration on the 48% it hoped to run on Monday.

The carrier has mobilised 7,000 staff to try to help passengers.

But people due to fly with the airline are being urged to check the Air France website before going to the airport as the daily flight schedule is being updated 24 hours in advance.

The airline repeated its call for people due to fly up until Monday (September 22) to postpone their travel.

The airline said: “Air France regrets this situation and is making every effort to minimize the inconvenience this may cause to its customers. Since last week, close to 1.1 million texts and messages have been sent to inform customers due to travel between 15 and 22 September, individually and in real time.”

Passengers with cancelled flights will receive a full refund.

They can also choose to receive a voucher valid for one year on Air France or KLM to postpone their trip beyond October 8, to change their destination or departure airport if they choose not to travel.
