Heathrow Express is to start accepting bookings for tickets in US dollars and euros as well as sterling.
A new multi-currency purchasing service, available across all digital platforms, means users will be able to avoid foreign exchange charges – which are typically between 2% and 5% on credit cards.
Multi-currency purchasing will be available across the Heathrow Express website, mobile sites and trade partner sites from October 23.
However, the facility will be available to Avios collectors from Wednesday 15.
Members of the UK Avios travel rewards programme, British Airways Executive Club and the Iberia Plus frequent flyer scheme can collect Avios for each journey taken on the Heathrow Express.
Commercial director, Fraser Brown, said: “This is an important step in our strategy to reach an international marketplace.
“By offering our products in US dollars and euros we are moving from a UK-centric approach to an international one.”
Avios head of global partnerships, Oliver Currell, said: “There are Avios collectors all over the world with millions of them travelling through Heathrow annually.
“This new service means that global members can now make their money go further, saving on foreign exchange charges when using the Heathrow Express and getting a step closer to their next trip with the Avios they collect from the booking.”
