Thomson and First Choice claim to have seen record numbers of people searching for holidays on their websites during Christmas.
The sister operators say they saw 940,000 people visit their sites on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with searches up 30% on last year.
The most popular time for holiday searches was between 9pm and 10pm on Boxing Day when the Birds of a Feather Christmas special was being aired.
This features the main characters Sharon, Tracey and Dorien jetting off to the Canary Islands.
Tenerife was the most searched for place, but Greece, Cyprus and Goa also saw high levels of interest.
Mobile searches for First Choice holidays were up 100% on Christmas Day and 88% on Boxing Day.
Christmas Day also saw a 63% increase for Thomson holiday searches on tablets compared to last year.
Andrew Flintham, commercial director for Thomson and First Choice, said: “The record searches prove that even though we are a nation that loves Christmas, the lure of a sunshine break is too strong for most of us.
“For the majority, time off over the festive period with our families gives us the chance to search for a holiday to look forward to. The Boxing Day offers and thousands of free kids’ places available provide even more incentive to book early.”
