Security was heightened today after police found two bombs in different terminals of Cairo’s main airport.
The devices were detected using electronic devices early on Tuesday, security sources told Reuters.
Meanwhile, a homemade bomb exploded near a busy square in the Egyptian capital.
Islamist militants seeking to topple the government have carried out numerous bomb attacks on soldiers and police since the army toppled president Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013.
Islamic State’s Egyptian affiliate staged coordinated attacks in the Sinai Peninsula last week which killed more than 30 security personnel.
