Rapidly-expanding independent chain Spear Travels has acquired Advantage/Aito member Vale Travel in Sturminster Newton in Dorset.
The Vale Travel acquisition brings the agency’s retail network up to 11 branches follows its purchase of Tickets Anywhere based in Thames, Oxfordshire, last month.
Spear Travels managing sirector Peter Cookson said: “We have a growth strategy to open branches in affluent market towns across the UK.
“This could be through acquiring existing travel businesses or by green field openings – as long as the location fits our retail footprint.”
Vale Travel will be rebranded to Spear Travels from March 31 with all staff retained.
Cookson added: “We are focused on growing both our retail network and our home-based agents division and we are delighted to bring the team at Vale Travel on board.”
The company was established in 1983 and employs more than 55 staff in shops across North Yorkshire, The Midlands, Essex and Oxfordshire as well as a nationwide network of 16 home-based agents.
