Jasvir Sandhu, marketing communications executive, X-TANT
Education: 10 GCSEs, three A levels in economics, accountancy and business studies. BA (Hons) combined degree in marketing, German language and psychology at University of Glamorgan (Wales) and at Luneborg Universitat (Germany). Diploma in marketing and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Training: most of his training in marketing was in his first job in business consultant. He is now carrying out on the job training with X-TANT.
First travel Job: current job with X-TANT which Ijoined in April. It is proving to be an extremely challenging and rewarding opportunity which Ifind very exciting.
Career path: Jasvir spent three years working in marketing communications for a business consultancy which also provided business start-up support for a number of small travel agents. He was responsible for planning and implementing marketing communication strategies, which has involved working with overseas government agencies in China, India and Usbekistan. One of the main elements of his current job is to increase the awareness of the X-TANT brand, previously known as AT&T Istel before the acquisition of NTL, and to tell the travel industry about the bespoke business solutions that X-TANT can provide.
Advice for people wishing to develop a career in travel: “The travel industry is changing rapidly and so too is travel technology, it is important to be aware of the issues and be ready for change. If you do want to make it big in the travel industry believe in yourself and above all do not be mediocre.”
