Three new routes will provide a boost to Guernsey’s air connectivity next summer.
Channel Islands airline Blue Islands is to run scheduled services from East Midlands, Exeter and Norwich.
This also enables the airline to maintain higher frequency on the inter-island connection between Guernsey and Jersey than would otherwise be possible.
Three flights each way will run on weekdays for summer 2025, with two flights each way per day at weekends.
Flights go on sale on December 11.
The airline operates a fleet of five ATR aircraft, four based in Jersey and one in Guernsey and already flies one in four passengers at Guernsey airport.
The new schedule will see up to six flights a week from Exeter year round from March 2025.
Three flights a week will serve East Midlands all while Norwich will be served seasonally twice a week from May 10 with stops in Jersey.
Blue Islands already operates the lifeline Guernsey-Southampton route jointly with Aurigny. The airlines intend to enable the new Guernsey connections to be booked via each others systems “in due course”.
Additional Guernsey-based aircrew will be recruited as a result of the expanded route network.
Blue Islands continues to run a high-frequency service between Jersey and Southampton on a year-round basis.
Chief revenue officer Ronnie Matheson said: “We’re delighted to be increasing Blue Islands’ services from Guernsey next year with no fewer than three new routes to complement existing flights to Jersey and Southampton.
“Exeter, East Midlands and Norwich are all long-standing destinations from Guernsey, and our new flights will be on sale from next week – providing plenty of opportunity to plan for 2025 whether travelling for leisure, to and from university, visiting friends and relatives or for business.
“Connectivity is essential for island communities, and providing that year-round connectivity is a key part of Blue Islands’ DNA.
“Alongside today’s announcement, we’re looking forward to announcing further exciting developments in the coming weeks.”
