Nick Hughes leaves Scenic Group after 10 months

Scenic Group UK director of sales, partnerships and strategic growth Nick Hughes has left the business.

Hughes, who joined the company at end of January this year, was responsible for sales across the Scenic and Emerald Cruises UK & Ireland brands.

A statement issued by the group said: “We can confirm that Nick Hughes has left Scenic Group with immediate effect. We thank Nick for his time with the business and wish him well in his future endeavours.

“Whilst we review the current situation, the wider UK leadership team will ensure all operations continue in a business-as-usual way and we remain focussed on supporting our valued agent partners as we head into the busy WAVE period.”

Hughes’ departure comes 18 months after Scenic Group promoted Nichola Absalom and Ian Wentworth as co-leaders of its UK business.

Hughes, who is well-known in the industry, was previously sales director at Princess Cruises and prior to that worked in director roles at dnata and Attraction World. Hughes has also worked for travel companies including JTA Travel, Bourne Leisure and Holiday Autos.

In September this year he took back the chairmanship of Tipto for the second time and he is also vice-chairman of Abta’s member committee.

Hughes declined to comment when contacted by Travel Weekly.
