Not Just Travel has reported a four-fold increase in Boxing Day bookings compared to 2024.
A third of all bookings made on December 26 with the homeworking agency were for summer 2025, with a third for holidays due to depart before April 2025.
One in 20 bookings made were for cruise, while the company also reported 50% more forward bookings for holidays with departures more than a year away compared to the same day last year.
Leading destinations included Spain and its islands, Greece, the Caribbean, Cyprus, Lapland, Florida, Egypt, the UK and Turkey. Ski sales also performed strongly.
Earlier this year, Not Just Travel co-founder Steve Witt (pictured) said he expected the homeworking agency’s sales to “knock on the door” of £1 billion annually in the next five years if it continues to grow at its current pace.
On Monday he said: “This Boxing Day knocked previous records out of the park. 66% of all bookings were for traditional package holidays.
“That’s no surprise given the significant amount of print, broadcast and digital advertising we’re seeing from operators, including those offering free child places.
“Our travel consultants have excellent, personal relationships with their clients, and this is evident over Boxing Day. People book travel with people and brands they like, know and trust and so it’s natural that they will contact their personal travel consultant on Boxing Day to book their next dream trip.”
Witt added that Not Just Travel had “a significant increase” in the number of travel consultants working on Boxing Day and three times as many consultants helping customers during the Christmas period than in previous years.
He said: “It shouldn’t be a surprise that we see bookings happening on Christmas Day and Boxing Day every year. The travel industry is 24/7 and so are we.”
