Charter flight growth boosts Norse Atlantic January carryings

Increased numbers of charter flights saw passengers flown by Norse Atlantic Airways grow by 71% in January over the same month last year.

The long-haul low cost carrier’s load factor of 94% equalled the airline’s highest level in December.

This represented a 30-percentage point increase from 64% in the same first month of the year in 2024.

The airline operated 377 flights and and 111,543 passengers across its network and ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance)/charter operations.

However, the level was down on the 434 flights and 124,450 passengers carried in December.

Norse reported that 70% of January flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, down from 80% the same month last year.

“ACMI/charter services saw large growth, with 140 flights operated in January 2025 compared to 23 flights in January 2024,” the airline said.

Norse aircraft are being chartered for the first time this winter by P&O Cruises as one of three airlines running flights to and from ships in the Caribbean.

The airline yesterday confirmed that one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners was to be leased out to Indian airline IndiGo from March.
