A former boss of Subway and Burger King has returned to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings as an independent director.
John Chidsey first served on the board of the owner of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises from 2013 to 2022.
He most recently served as chief executive of Subway Restaurants for five years, leading the company until his retirement in late 2024.
Prior to that, he was chief executive of Burger King Holdings, following a time as the company’s president and chief financial officer.
Before joining Burger King, Chidsey held key leadership positions at Cendant Corporation, where he oversaw brands such as Avis and Budget Rent A Car.
Seven of the eight members of the NCLH board are now independent and the company is “actively searching” for an additional member to join in the coming months.
Chidsey will chair of the nominating and governance committee and as a member of the audit committee.
NCLH president and chief executive Harry Sommer said: “John has deep knowledge of large-scale operations, financial management, and corporate strategy shaped by his previous experience as CEO of Subway and Burger King.
“His deep understanding of our industry due to his previous service on the board will provide invaluable insight into the unique demands of the cruise sector.
“We are thrilled to welcome him back to the board as an independent director and look forward to his continued contributions to our success.”
