Young legs struggle to keep up with all the excitement on offer

AS Travel Weekly’s own guinea pigs on the Thomson educational to Disneyland Paris, mother and daughter’s job was to track the agents, to see how the kids enjoyed the character breakfast and the park.

A great assignment, with one drawback. The park might be tiny compared to Walt Disney World in Florida, but we soon found out how easy it is for people to disappear. We also discovered how tiring it can be when you only have small legs. There is a lot of walking between attractions and to the on-site hotels, after a while a buggy, even for a five-year-old, seemed a good idea. The character breakfast was a great start to the day, but in the excitement of seeing Minnie, Chipmunks and others, little was eaten.

That was a shame as there was a good spread – better than the fast food we had later in the park.

This was the second visit to Disneyland for Ilana and I and there were several rides to try that we had missed before and one new attraction, Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I had seen it in Florida and knew it was good. What I didn’t know was how scary the 3D effects are for children. And the 15min preamble before the show starts, amusing for adults, was boring for the youngsters. Miss it if you can.

The other rides we went on were fun rather than frightening, even the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. These are outside Fantasyland, where we spent most of the time. The Alice in Wonderland Maze, with freedom to run about, was the biggest hit for Ilana.
