Expanding Heathrow would “fill the gap” in the UK’s long-term economic plan, boss John Holland-Kaye (pictured) claimed today while reporting “robust” results for the first three quarters of the year.
Passenger numbers grew by 2.3% year-on-year to a record 56.9 million, boosted by a strong summer performance.
The airport handled more than 250,000 passengers on five separate days over the summer period.
Revenue rose by 4.1% by £2.1 billion with earnings [EBITDA] up by 4.4% to £1.2 billion in the nine months to September 30.
Holland-Kaye said: “Expansion at Heathrow fills the gap in the UK’s long-term economic plan, by connecting all of Britain to global growth.
“Today’s strong set of results demonstrates that we’re moving closer to our goal of giving passengers the best airport service in the world and that we’re well-placed to make the private investment to fund expansion. Let’s make it happen.”
