GB Airways backs investment with Madeira capacity hike

GBAIRWAYS, the British Airways franchise airline, is increasing capacity to Madeira this winter.

Flights from Gatwick will rise from three to four a week from November.

The new schedule sees services on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Commercial director Peter Kenworthy said the move follows huge investment on the island.

“Investment has been injected into the economy in Madeira with hotel redevelopments and a massive upgrade is in process at Funchal Airport,” he said.

An increase in seats will also meet growing demand to the island. Last winter, 15% additional passengers flew with GB Airways to Madeira in a total of 12,000.
