Wizz Air March carryings rise by almost 21%

Budget carrier Wizz Air saw March passenger carryings rise by 20.8% to 1.6 million.

The year-on-year rise came as capacity grew by 19.5% to 1.9 million seats.

The eastern and central European airline’s load factor edged up by one percentage point to 86.3% last month, which included the Easter weekend.

The figures gave the airline a rolling 12 month total of almost 20 million passengers, a rise of 21.2% on the previous year to March.

Wizz Air took delivery of its third and fourth new generation Airbus A320ceos in the month at its Budapest base, bringing the total fleet up to 67 aircraft.

New routes were introduced from Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Latvia.
