LateRooms.com is among brands taking part in this year’s Channel 4 Comedy Gala Ad Break Takeover in a continuation of the firm’s ‘It’s Going To Be A Great Night’ promotional activity.
The Ad Break Takeover, an annual element of the Comedy Gala show, will feature bespoke advert re-enactments by Alan Carr for a number of household names during the Comedy Gala’s commercial breaks, starting from 9.15pm on Sunday.
The comedian will be creating his version of LateRooms.com’s ‘It’s Going To Be A Great Night’ campaign, falling out with an over-excited Chris De Burgh obsessive and revealing himself to be a closet Bucks Fizz fan.
The hotel booking site is amongst six brands selected to receive the treatment this year, alongside the likes of MoneySuperMarket and Domino’s Pizza.
Marketing director Georgina Crosswell said: “The Ad Break Takeover is a perfect opportunity for us to have some fun with the brand, and help capture LateRooms.com’s unique personality, sense of humour and tone of voice.”
Viewers will this year be invited to Tweet their favourite ad using a hashtag displayed on screen (#GalaLateRooms) during the show. The winning advert will be screened for a second time before the end of the Gala.
Crosswell added: “Alan’s re-enactment of our Chris de Burgh advert has had us belly laughing, so we can’t wait to see it play out during Sunday night’s show. And of course, we’re hoping to secure a second airing of the advert through those all-important viewer votes.”
LateRooms.com will be using the opportunity to partner with a number of up-and-coming comedians, including Harriet Dyer, Jo D’Arcy, Brennan Reece, Will Duggan and Rahul Kohli, who will be creating their own parodies of the Chris de Burgh advert for social media.
Channel 4’s Comedy Gala is held in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. LateRooms.com has made a £5,000 donation to the charity and will also be encouraging people to donate through its social media channels.
