Magic Travel bids to boost presence in winter sun market

THE Magic Travel Group has produced a dedicated winter programme just two years after launching year-round brochures.

It will focus on the main winter sun destinations with heavy emphasis on Spain and Portugal.

Marketing director Helen Baker said the company needed a presence in the winter racks to improve sales.

“There was significant growth in Spain and Portugal when we had a dedicated winter programme but last year, when there were only year-round brochures, we did not see the same growth,” she said.

About 80% of the 10,000-capacity programme is expected to come from Spain and Portugal with the remainder from Sicily and the Naples coast in Italy and the Cote d’Azur in France. Gran Canaria is new to the programme, where Maspalomas, Santa Brigida and Las Palmas are featured. Andalucia, Costa del Sol, the Algarve, Madeira, Lanzarote and Tenerife are also included.

Golfing breaks have been increased to cater for demand with a dedicated section listing all properties within reach of a golf course. Baker said cities are not included in the brochure. “Although customers travel to cities in Italy and France year round they are more likely to pick up our Magic Cities brochure than a winter brochure.”

Offers include two weeks for the price of one at selected villas, airport and hotel arrangement, special child prices and pre-bookable excursions. Prices lead in at £249 per person for three nights in Nice.
