THAI Airways will begin its privatisation in December with a partial public sell off.
The second stage of the privatisation is due next April when strategic airline partners will take a stake. The exact amount of Thai Airways that is up for sale remains undecided.
President Thamnoon Wanglee said the airline would have a plan for its government to consider by June.
Star Alliance has told the Thai government it is interested in acquiring a stake. Oneworld rival Qantas is also interested in the carrier.
Wanglee said the Star Alliance would be given first option if the government agrees the sell-off.
n Meanwhile, South African Airways is due to reveal who has bid for a 20% stake in the airline this week.
Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines have made a joint bid, but American Airlines, KLMand Swissair are also believed to have made offers.
