Jet2holidays’ first mobile travel agencies have been on the road with the pop-up partner stores making an appearance in Newcastle.
The dual-branded trailers – which are run by independent agents who sell Jet2holidays packages – were open for business in Northumberland Street over the weekend, with thousands of shoppers passing by in the middle of peaks.
The tour operator’s first agency partner was Dawson & Sanderson.
At its annual conference last year, Jet2holidays urged independent agents not to fear the brand, and promised not to actively reduce the percentage of sales it makes through the trade.
Helen Parry, Jet2holidays’ regional sales manager for trade, said: “The pop up partner store looked fantastic and was a phenomenal success. To be able to physically position ourselves in the middle of the main high street in Newcastle on a busy Saturday afternoon meant we could put both Jet2holidays and Dawson & Sanderson in front of thousands of customers.
“The store was busy throughout the day, and the feedback was superb, beating all of our expectations.”
The store is now heading to Cinderford in Gloucestershire, where it will be joint-branded with Midcounties Co-operative Travel.
