Panorama hikes up 2000 prices in bid to profit from millennium rush

Panorama Holidays has become the latest operator to cash in on the millennium with its decision to increase prices by up to 30% across its Wintersun programme.

The increase comes as the company targets 15% growth in its dedicated Tunisia brochure – taking capacity to 30,000 – and 20% in Wintersun to 20,000.

Sales and marketing director Martin Young said:”We delayed the launch of brochures so we could be certain we had millennium rates from hoteliers.”

Young said the rates had become more realistic over the last few months as demand cooled for New Year breaks.

Long-stay holidays have been added to the Tunisia programme with prices leading in at ú199 per person for 21 nights’ half-board at the Hotel Dalia in Hammamet.

Millennium prices start at ú499 for seven nights’ half-board at the Hotel Miramar. New to Wintersun are Lanzarote and Fuerteventura along with a four-day desert safari.

Young said demand for the Canaries from the UK is so strong hoteliers are demanding up to 10% more from operators. He said: “We are resisting these demands and prices have risen by 3%.”
