Bib Awaits Agents To Join Shopping Site


British Interactive Broadcasting has launched an Internet site listing details of its forthcoming interactive shopping channel. The company claims agents signing up to be content providers on the interactive shopping channel, which is due to launch in the autumn, will have the opportunity to widen their customer base nationally. Sabre Launches GDS With WEB Access


Global distribution system supplier the Sabre Group claims to have introduced the travel industry’s first Internet-based booking platform for small and remote travel agencies. Sabre NetPlatform takes away the need for a dedicated data line, cutting the cost of connection to the CRS by up to 40%. The NetPlatform offers full access to the GDS and also allows agents to print tickets as well as providing a browser tool to access the Internet and send out and receivee-mail. The basic booking platform, with Internet access and e-mail, will be available across Europe from next month. The ticketing and document facility will be introduced in the autumn.


IBM internet link aids call centres


IBM has launched its Corepoint Web Collaboration system, which combines Internet commerce functions with call-centre technology. The software, which is aimed at UK tour operators, runs on multimedia PCs and links call-centre staff within coming queries via the Internet. If clients have lost their way on the Internet site, they can click on a button to alert call-centre staff who are able to see what the client has typed on a booking form and talk them through difficulties.
