Tailor-made specialist eyes new opportunities

Tailor-made specialist The Destination Group launches its first ever dedicated Australia brochure today as part of its campaign to develop a worldwide portfolio.

Designed primarily for independent travellers, the 40-page Destination Australia brochure covers every state and features an array of options including city stays, beach holidays, touring itineraries, reef cruising, self-drive holidays, rainforest accommodation and outback four-wheel drive safaris.

Destination Group sales and marketing director Neil Gregory said the initiative, which follows shortly after the launch of its second Asia brochure, was timely.

“Fares are low to Australia, the pound is still relatively strong and we now have a good foothold in the Far East and Pacific,” he said. “We want to encourage multi-centre type itineraries and utilise facilities we offer to Asia/Pacific en route.”

Prices in the brochure are for land-only options – air fares from the UK will be costed on the best available price on any given day.

Prices cost from ú90 per person for a three-night city stay including three-star accommodation, transfers and two half-day tours; a four-day Ayers Rock/Kings Canyon/Alice Springs tour starts at ú246 per person.

Millennium prices for Sydney lead in at ú649 per person for three nights’ room-only accommodation in a three-star hotel, airport transfers, a one-day Sydney Red Explorer Pass and a champagne dinner cruise in the harbour on New Year’s Eve which includes a three-course dinner, wines, beers, soft drinks and champagne at midnight.

Gregory said that prices would be updated and new product added after the Australian Travel Exchange conference on May 24-28 which takes place in Sydney.

“I also hope to expand in the Whitsundays, introduce longer coach touring itineraries and expand in Western Australia which is enjoying a healthy growth curve,” he said.
