Kirkwood Internet launch eyes business travellers

FORMERAir 2000 commercial director BillKirkwood has launched an on-line bookings and travel information service for business travellers, called Equator-Net.

Kirkwood, who was also once Thomas Cook business travel sales and marketing director, has enlisted HamiltonTravel to distribute tickets and Galileo to provide the reservations links. The site is now up and running but will not take on-line bookings until May 1.

Kirkwood, who is managing director of the new company, has been working on the project for the past six months and has employed three people to help him.

As well as allowing business travellers to make bookings, the site will have a loyalty club and a magazine. “It offers direct access to the largest number of consolidated fares usually only available through leisure travel agents,” said Kirkwood.

He claimed that 7% of UK business travellers booked via the Internet. The site’s address is www.equator-net.co.uk
