THEOFFICEof Fair Trading is to investigate whether or not it is legal for airlines to separate Passenger Service Charges from their fares.
The investigation follows a formal complaint from ABTA which claims the move breaches the UK’s complicated pricing legislation and other consumer laws.
ABTA’s head of legal affairs Ricardo Nardi said:”The OFTcould put a brake on this. It has the power to stop the airlines separating PSC.”
ABTAis also calling for a meeting with trading standards bodies to inform them that some airlines are wrongly referring to the PSC as a tax.
