Hotel pulls out all the stops to make fantasy-filled corker

CHRISTMAS is only just behind us, and hotels are already dusting off their Valentine’s Day gimmicks.

Backchat’s favourite so far is the offer of a champagne bath to guests willing to pay ú1,000 for Valentine’s night at the Portobello Hotel, London.

The hotel apparently nicked the idea from film star Johnny Depp, who once filled his bath with champagne while staying there.

His extravagant gesture went awry when a maid mistook the liquid for something else and pulled the plug.

The naughty Portobello even hints that it might turn a blind eye to a Valentine orgy in one of its enormous Victorian bathing machines.

“They’re in full working order with yards of brass pipe, eight different shower settings and big enough to contain four people, they are referred to as the Jules Verne fantasy baths, and guarantee that a night in one of these is going to be an adventure,” the hotel gushed.
