LOUIS CRUISE FEATURES ALEXANDRIA ITINERARIES


Louis Cruise Lines has introduced a two-day cruise to Alexandria in Egypt which will start this summer. The cruises will operate from Cyprus where the cruiseline is based. Exact prices have yet to be finalised, but fares are expected to start at around £50.


CARNIVAL VOWS TO FINE CLIENTS CAUGHT SMOKING


Carnival Cruise Lines has introduced a $250 fine for passengers who breach the non-smoking policy on its latest ship, Paradise. The ship, launched in November, is the world’s first non-smoking vessel. In addition to the fine, passengers caught smoking can expect to be thrown off the ship at the next port.


STS FLAGS UP FREE INSURANCE OFFERS


Scandinavian Travel Service is offering free insurance on cruise bookings for sister company Norwegian Coastal Voyages, a saving of £35. The discounts apply to all bookings for combined land and cruise holidays contained in the operator’s Lakes and Mountains 1999 brochure. The offer runs until Saturday.


HAL VICE-PRESIDENT RETIRES AFTER 25 YEARS


Holland America Line senior vice-president sales and marketing, Jack Anderson, is set to retire from Holland America Line on February 1. Anderson has been with the line for 25 years.


HOWLAND GETS TOP PREMIER POSITION


Premier Cruises has promoted vice-president marketing Cynthia Howland to senior vice-president marketing, following the resignation of Hans Rood, who has left the cruiseline to pursue personal interests. Senior vice-president hotel operations, Morten Mathiesen, has also resigned from the company.
