GALILEOUK has launched a European Satellite Ticket Printer following changes in regulations prohibiting cross-border ticketing.
The remote ticket printer allows corporates and travel agents to book tickets at one location and print them at another, anywhere in Europe.
Galileo UKmanaging director Mike Thorne explained:”Cross-border ticketing is a system we have wanted to adopt for a long time, but rule changes by the International Air Transport Association have only just made it possible.”
The first printer has been installed by independent agency Gray Dawes for its client TIBCO, part of Reuters.
Tickets are booked at the Gray Dawes implant in London and issued almost immediately through the printer in TIBCO’s Frankfurt office.
“We are already working on similar systems in four other European countries,” said Thorne.
Gray Dawes managing director Ray Hopkins said:”The arrival of international ticket printing is an important step in demonstrating how business travel sales may be made in the future.
“UKbusiness travel agents can now service international clients without the need for a costly presence in different countries.”
n Galileo UKwill be showcasing its latest corporate booking products next week at the Business Travel ’99 exhibition. Agents will be able to see its graphical user interface desktop booking solution, Viewpoint, designed to increase agency productivity and reduce training costs.
Business Travel ’99 is being held at the Business Design Centre in Islington on February 9 and 10.
