STBkicks off annual Scottish Thistle Awards competition
THE SCOTTISH Tourist Board has launched its annual Scottish Thistle Awards competition, which rewards companies that are involved in the promotion of the region.Now in their ninth year, the awards are open to all tourism businesses, regardless of business or type, in Scotland.
STB chairman Lord Gordon of Strathblane said: “The Scottish Thistle Awards hold up and celebrate excellence in tourism at all levels and this is important at a time when quality of product and service have been identified in the national strategy as essential ingredients of Scotland’s tourism renaissance.”
There are 14 categories which include tourism initiatives, large company training, cultural tourism and customer care. New this year is an information technology category, sponsored by Scotrail.
New sponsors are MacDonald Hotels and the Witchery by the Castle. Nominations can be put in until the end of May and winners will be announced on November 10.
