G Adventures unveils ‘closer-to-home’ trips for 2023

G Adventures has unveiled a programme of “closer-to-home” trips in Iceland, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Morocco for 2023.

The adventure tour operator said Europe was among the top five most popular regions during the pandemic, adding the trend had “held steady” in recent months.

Prices for the six-day Hiking Southern Iceland trip, visiting Mount Laki, the 100m-deep Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon and featuring ice hiking in Skaftafell, start from £2,099.

The Best of Italy: Tuscany, Cinque Terre & The Almafi Coast lasts 13 days and is priced from £2,599. Stop-offs include Cinque Terre (pictured), Florence, Chianti, Sorrento and Naples.

The programme also includes seven breaks in Morocco.

The lead-in price for Four Days in Marrakech trip is £399. The itinerary includes visits to local bakeries and a traditional dinner in Jamee Lafna Square.

Managing director Brian Young said: “The past two years have changed the way travellers think about short-haul destinations, with many having discovered the wealth of experiences and landscapes available on our doorstep.

“There’s no denying that long-haul will continue to play a big role in UK holidaymakers calendars, which we’ve seen with the success of our trips in Peru, Thailand and Costa Rica, but there’s definitely a renewed appetite for high value, closer-to-home options as travellers look at ways to make their holiday money go further.”

He added: “We’ve seen a rise in achievement-based holidays and our new shorter active trips allow travellers to get that adventure-fix without having to sacrifice too much holiday time.”
