The number of commercial aircraft orders made by Airbus doubled to more than 1,000 in the first half of 2023 over the same period last year.
The strength in demand was illustrated by 800 orders taken at the Paris Air Show in June, according to the European manufacturer.
Chief executive Guillaume Faury said: “During the first half of 2023 we progressed well across our businesses in an operational environment that remains complex.
“Our commercial aircraft are in strong demand, as demonstrated by more than 800 orders announced at the Paris Air Show.

“This demand is driven both by growth and fleet replacement as airlines invest in more fuel efficient fleets. Based on this H1 performance, we maintain our 2023 guidance.”
Reporting a rise in overall half year revenues of 11% to €27.7 billion, the company said 316 aircraft were delivered, comprising of 25 A220s, 256 A320 family, 14 A330s and 21 A350s.
“Revenues generated by Airbus’ commercial aircraft activities increased 16%, mainly reflecting the higher number of deliveries,” the group added.
The order backlog stood at a record 7,967 commercial aircraft at the end of June.
Total earnings [ebit adjusted] relating to Airbus’ commercial aircraft activities was “broadly stable” year-on-year at €2.2 billion.
The ramp-up of the A220 programme is continuing towards a monthly production rate of 14 aircraft in the middle of the decade.
Production of A320 family aircraft is progressing well towards a previously announced rate of 75 a month in 2026.
Flight testing of the long-range A321XLR is progressing towards an expected entry-into-service in the second quarter of 2024.
