Atas appoints board members from Incredible Journeys and Hurtigruten

The Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers has announced two new board members: Simon Applebaum from Gold Medal and Hurtigruten’s Iain Powell.

They will join the other board members, including Atas director Claire Brighton, to help the association’s mission to promote touring and adventure holidays to agents across the UK.

Applebaum, Gold Medal managing director, said: “Through our touring and adventure brand, Incredible Journeys, we have worked closely with Atas to share our latest news, campaigns, incentives and events with travel agents.

“I am delighted to join the board and I will be doing my very best to support Atas in improving awareness and sales through the UK travel trade.”

Powell, UK and EMEA sales and marketing vice-president, added: “I am delighted to join the Atas board.

“Atas continues to go from strength to strength and I look forward to working with Claire and the other board members to ensure cruise has its share of voice within the touring and adventure sector.”

The chair is Zina Bencheikh (Intrepid) and deputy chair is Brian Young (G Adventures).

Other board members are Kelly Jackson (TTC Tour Brands), Stu Milan (Riviera Travel), Niel Alobaidi (Newmarket Holidays), Andy Squirrell (Titan Travel) and Stu Parish (Travel Weekly).

Brighton commented: “I’m excited to welcome Simon and Iain to the board – they are hugely experienced and will be very supportive as we head towards our annual conference in October and the busy peaks sales season early next year.

“They have plenty of ideas about how Atas can support its members and help travel agents to make the most of the lucrative touring and adventure sector.”
