Atas reveals ‘connect’ as theme for annual conference

The Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas) has revealed ‘connect’ as the theme of its annual conference.

Taking place on October 15-16, the event will be hosted at a new venue for Atas: the Royal Armouries, Leeds.

Claire Brighton (pictured), Atas director, said: “This theme was chosen by the board to reflect a number of elements.

“The conference itself helps to connect our operator and associate members with travel agents – whether that’s those who are already engaging with the sector or those who are brand new connections.

“Also, the touring and adventure sector helps to connect people.

“We know that people make lifelong friendships on these holidays and they often choose to travel again with the same people.

“Furthermore, the sector also connects guests to the destinations and, most importantly, to the local communities.

“We will use the event to showcase all this and more.”

As well as the full day of conference sessions and networking on October 16, there will be two evening social events, including the annual Atas awards ceremony.

There will also be a Selling Skills workshop on the first afternoon (October 15).

Brighton explained: “Last year we introduced a ‘New to’ session and agents of all levels of expertise loved it so we have amended this to a Selling Skills workshop in order to cater for all.”

Details of the conference speakers are expected to be revealed soon.

Agent accommodation will be at The Leonardo Hotel, Leeds, which is about a 10-minute walk from the Royal Armouries.
