Emirates to restart Newcastle-Dubai service in October

Emirates will resume its Newcastle service to Dubai on October 15, as demand rises in response to the easing of international entry restrictions.

It will offer four weekly flights – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – all operated by B777 aircraft, across two classes.

The first flight will depart Dubai at 14.30 and arrive in Newcastle at 19.10. The return service will depart Newcastle at 21.10 and arrive in Dubai the following day at 07.25.

It will also increase operations to and from Heathrow in a phased manner that will see it offering a six-times daily operation – with five A380 services – by October 31.

By the end of October, the Dubai-based airline will offer 77 weekly flights to the UK, including the six-times daily Heathrow operation; double-daily A380 flights to Manchester, a 10-weekly service to Birmingham, a daily service to Glasgow, and a four-weekly service to Newcastle.

Its global network of 120 destinations is now close to 90% of Emirates’ pre-pandemic portfolio.

The carrier has also brought forward its plans to introduce extra flights and capacity to other key cities, including Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Lisbon, Madrid, Munich, Rome, and Zurich.

Richard Jewsbury, UK divisional vice-president at Emirates, said: “Since the UAE moved to the UK’s amber list, we’ve seen huge demand from passengers eagerly making travel plans – whether it’s to see family and friends, for education, business, or a long-awaited holiday.”

Nick Jones, chief executive of Newcastle airport, added: “A change of flight times to an evening departure will mean passengers can maximise their stay in Dubai, whether on holiday or business whilst also ensuring connectivity to worldwide destinations via the Emirates network.”
