Flights to Tunisia are being added after the north African country became the latest to introduce relaxed Covid entry rules.
The Tunisian embassy in London confirmed that the changes would be introduced from tomorrow (Tuesday).
Travellers over the age of 18 will be exempt from the need to take a test if they can present a certificate to prove they have been fully vaccinated or a vaccine pass.
Children over the age of six who are not fully vaccinated must take either a PCR test less than 48 hours before travel; or a rapid lateral flow test less than 24 hours in advance and show dated evidence of a negative result before they check-in.
They may be randomly tested on arrival by Tunisian authorities. If a positive result is returned they will be required to self-isolate for a minimum of five days.
The Foreign Office confirmed that from February 15 “if you are vaccinated, you will need to present official evidence of your vaccinations, but you will no longer be required to provide a PCR or rapid test to enter the country.
“Travellers who have not been vaccinated will no longer be required to isolate. But they must take either:
- a PCR test less than 48 hours before travel;
- or a rapid lateral flow test less than 24 hours before travel and carry dated evidence of a negative result. This test must include a QR code.”
Tunisian carrier Nouvelair responded by adding a third weekly Gatwick-Tunis service from May.
The airline is starting flights to the Tunisian capital with two flights a week from March 29.
Nouvelair will also run operate up to two flights a week from Manchester to Monastir from May.
A spokesperson said: “With the addition of the 3rd service from Gatwick and our twice weekly Manchester service, we welcome support from the trade to provide flexible options to Tunisia.”
