Start-up UK airline Hans Airways has promoted sales and distribution director Martin Dunn to the role of chief commercial officer.
The carrier is gearing up to start scheduled services from Birmingham to India later this summer.
Dunn is working closely with chief executive Satnam Saini in the executive leadership team and is responsible for overall sales, distribution, marketing, brand and product, e-commerce and digital retail functions.
He joined the business in November 2021 from Etihad Airways, and has four decades of airline experience in the UK and Middle East.
After starting his career as a travel agent, his first airline job was with British Midland in sales. He moved to the Middle East, working for Gulf Air in Bahrain, and then Abu Dhabi-based Etihad in 2007.
Satnam said: “Martin’s experience in airline pricing and revenue management, plus his ability to lead and inspire teams was highly attractive to the Hans Airways’ board as we determined an ideal commercial leader.”
Dunn added: “I have held many roles in the airline industry but the opportunity to be part of a start-up airline is very exciting.
“After months working mainly by video calls it is great to be able to get out and meet face-to-face again.”
The airline plans to offer a two-class service between secondary cities in the UK and India, with 274 seats in economy and 24 in premium economy.
A launch date has yet to be confirmed but Hans Airways plans to have “a close working relationship” with travel agencies and travel management companies.
