Jamaica eases Covid entry requirements

Jamaica is dropping its Covid test entry requirement from tomorrow (Friday).

International visitors will no longer need to take a pre-departure PCR or antigen test before arriving in Jamaica, as the country further eases its Covid restrictions.

The change will mean visitors can travel to Jamaica without needing to do any tests, quarantine or complete a travel authorisation form.

In addition, face masks are no longer mandatory in public places in Jamaica, although they are recommended. Some restrictions still apply to hospitals and nursing homes.

Minister of Tourism for Jamaica Edmund Bartlett said: “Eliminating mask mandates and the need for travellers to present a negative Covid test result are important strides toward our continued gradual relaxation of travel protocols as the spread of Covid keeps declining.

“We are optimistic that these simpler requirements will serve to increase the appeal of Jamaica as a premier destination and keep us moving along the road to a stronger recovery for both the tourism sector and the nation’s economy as a whole.”

Travellers are warned they may still be tested for Covid if they have symptoms.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office said: “The requirement for travellers to present a negative Covid test prior to travel ends on April 15.

“All travellers arriving in Jamaica may still be tested for Covid if assessed as high-risk as result of exhibiting symptoms, exposure to people who have tested positive, belonging to a high-risk group or other risk factors.

“Travellers may be screened for symptoms at the airport.”
