Kenya Airways adds Gatwick flights from next summer

Kenya Airways is to start serving Gatwick as well as Heathrow from next summer amid UK expansion amitions.

The airline confirmed plans to run flights from Nairobi three times a week from July 2.

The Wednesday, Friday and Sunday services will complement the existing Heathrow schedule, increasing overall London frequency to 10 flights a week.

Kenya Airways group managing director and and chief executive Allan Kilavuka hinted at the potential for further expansion, saying that “this is just the beginning of our expansion plans for the UK market”.

Outlining the new Gatwick-Nairobi route, he said: “The United Kingdom is essential and strategic for Kenya Airways and Kenya. 

“It provides a gateway for trade, tourism, education, business, leisure travel and diaspora connections. 

“We are excited to add Gatwick airport to our expansive network as it means that KQ guests now have more options in and out of the UK and a convenient schedule that suits their travel preferences.”
