Ryanair and EasyJet chiefs are set to appear before MPs investigating the August bank holiday air traffic control failure.
The Parliamentary transport committee is also due to hear evidence from bosses of the air traffic control provider Nats and the Civil Aviation Authority.
The oral evidence hearing into the ATC disruption is to be held in London on October 18.
Those set to speak include Ryanair group chief executive Michael O’Leary, EasyJet chief commercial officer Sophie Dekkers, Airlines UK chief executive Tim Alderslade, Nats chief executive Martin Rolfe and chief financial officer Alistair Borthwick plus newly appointed CAA chief executive Rob Bishton.
Simon Calder, travel journalist at The Independent, will kick off the proceedings.
The transport committee, made up of 11 MPs, said: “On 28 August 2023 a technical problem experienced by Nats resulted in hundreds of flights being delayed or cancelled.
“In some cases passengers waited several days for alternative flights.
“This one-off session will look at Nats’ preliminary report about the incident, which is subject to a longer-term independent review by the Civil Aviation Authority.
“It will also examine how airlines were affected, and how effectively they communicated with and made arrangements for their passengers.”
