Norwegian Air carried more than 1.2 million passengers in October.
This represents an increase of close to 900,000 passengers compared with the same month in 2020, when Covid restrictions were tighter and when the carrier suffered a 90% passenger slump on 2019.
Last month’s figures show an increase in passenger numbers for the sixth consecutive month at the airline, which abandoned its low-cost long-haul model during the Covid crisis through a reconstruction process which saw its fleet reduced from 156 to 51 aircraft.
Chief executive Geir Karlsen said: “For the sixth consecutive month we are reporting a positive increase in passenger numbers. We are very happy to see that travel demand continues to be high as we enter the winter season. We are experiencing an increase in bookings across our European network.
In October 2021, Norwegian carried 1,203,205 passengers, an increase of close to 900,000 compared with the 319,477 in carried in the same period last year.
Load factor last month was 82.7 per cent, an increase of 27 percentage points compared with last year.
Norwegian operated an average of 48 aircraft in October, and said 99.9% of scheduled flights were operated, of which 88.3% departed on time.
