Tui has made a further extension to the cancellation of holidays to Sri Lanka.
The operator’s programme is being suspended by an extra week until August 22.
Tui started holiday cancellations to Sri Lanka in May and has progressively extended the ban amid mass unrest in the country over its ongoing economic crisis.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised against all but essential travel due to political and economic instability in the Indian Ocean island.
“As a result, we’ve unfortunately had to cancel all holidays to Sri Lanka departing up to and including 22 August 2022,” Tui said.
“We will be proactively contacting all impacted customers in departure date order to discuss their options.”
The advice does not apply to customers transiting through Sri Lanka’s international airport.
Tui reiterated its stance that the situation in Sri Lanka will continue to be monitored and customers will be updated.
