Imagine enjoying sweeping views of the glistening turquoise sea from the comfort of your balcony, being just steps away from a water park that’s spread across a whopping 141 acres, or staying at the home of one of the world’s largest private collections of wine. All of this is possible with a holiday in Nassau Paradise Island.
Choose from bustling beachside hotels fit for families, serene suites for adults only, or villas equipped with fully functional kitchens – all close to thrilling water parks, cultural attractions and some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. And this is all just one flight away, with direct routes available from Heathrow to Nassau in less than 10 hours with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
Fun for all the family
Nassau Paradise Island’s member properties suit families of all sizes and budgets. For the ultimate family-friendly spot, recommend Atlantis Paradise Island. Comprising five accommodation options in one resort, guests can fill their days playing at the pool, snorkelling with marine life in the Ruins Lagoon, or strolling along the Marina while doing some souvenir shopping.
The jewel in the crown here is the Aquaventure Waterpark, the largest of its kind in The Bahamas. And those staying at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island next door can access the water park for free. But if you don’t want to leave the hotel, it also has a pool of its own.
Joining the line-up of fun-filled resorts is Margaritaville Beach Resort, Nassau, with its Fins Up Water Park. There’s also a spa, marina and excellent culinary spots, from cafes to a fine‑dining steakhouse. And it’s in a prime location on downtown Nassau’s beachfront.
With 24 slides, a surf simulator, wave pool and more, Baha Bay waterpark can be found at Baha Mar. Rosewood, one of three properties here, offers activities for the whole family. Kids aged four to 12 can play at the Explorer’s Club, while adults will love the golf courses and spa.
Time for two
Nassau Paradise Island knows how to dazzle couples too. Sandals Royal Bahamian, a beautiful, all-inclusive resort with its own offshore island, reopened last year following a $37 million renovation.
If luxury is high on the agenda, then The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort won’t disappoint either. Indulge in fine cuisine and ultra-relaxing spa treatments, before retiring to an opulent room or suite to end the perfect day.
New this year is Goldwynn Resort & Residences, facing the turquoise waters of Cable Beach. It’s home to studios, and one two and three-bedroom suites, each with a kitchen or kitchenette – and a private balcony.
Graycliff Hotel in the centre of downtown Nassau is a property with heaps of character. The mansion was built in 1740, and guest rooms ooze history and charm, while its wine cellar is home to a whopping 250,000 bottles.
The property also has a chocolatier, cigar factory, and museum on site, which are well worth a tour by guests and visitors alike.
Downtown draws
If your clients staying elsewhere can pull themselves away from their accommodation, they’ll find that Nassau is a treasure trove of adventure – quite literally, with an insightful Pirates of Nassau museum in downtown Nassau. Here, visitors can learn about these infamous pirates and their way of life.
There’s plenty of colonial architecture to admire as you wander the streets, but those interested in Caribbean culture should head to the Educulture Junkanoo Museum.
The history of the vibrant parades is explored here, with colourful costumes on display, lively music and the chance to make your own Junkanoo mask.
