Discover a more sustainable stay in Mauritius with Attitude Hotels
Attitude Hotels is pushing the boundaries of responsible hospitality in the Indian Ocean, says the hotel group’s account executive Emily Standen.
Q. What makes Attitude Hotels stand out in Mauritius?
The company has been going for more than 15 years and has shown you can run a stable business that’s also socially responsible, earning Attitude Group a B Corp certification. This is testament to the company’s principles, and it’s the only B Corp hotel group in Mauritius.
Q. What sustainable initiatives has Attitude Hotels introduced?
Every decision we make is based on three commitments: protect the environment, support the community and contribute to the economy.
At Lagoon Attitude, we run a Marine Discovery Centre staffed by marine biologists and offer guests free mineral sunscreen to protect the marine ecosystem. Each hotel also has a Bulk Shop: instead of single-use plastic in each minibar, we encourage guests to fill up reusable glass jars.
Where possible, food and drink is locally grown and made. Rooms are filled with arts, crafts and furniture sourced in the area, and each hotel has an Otentik Bazar stocked with gifts and souvenirs made in Mauritius.
Q. Who would suit a stay?
We have eight hotels on the island, both family-friendly and adult-only properties, offering bright rooms, beachside locations and great-value lead-in prices.
Three-star Tropical Attitude and four-star Sunrise Attitude, for example, have fantastic pool villas, perfect for honeymooners on a budget.
For guests with kids, Attitude Hotels can provide essentials including bottle warmers, highchairs and prams. Each family hotel also has a free kids’ club, and children under six stay free when sharing with an adult. For a five-star adult-only option, our sister hotel Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel has Travelife Gold certification and is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Q. What else can agents highlight?
Customers can dine with a local family, which is a great way to learn about Mauritius. At Zilwa Attitude, they could sail to a deserted island for a barbecue and relax in an overwater hammock, or at Sunrise Attitude listen to a DJ as they watch the sun rise on the beach. Attitude has also created the Otentik Discovery app for self‑guided tours, including the best street food in Port Louis.
Q. What’s next for Attitude Hotels?
We’re opening in Zanzibar – it’s our first hotel outside Mauritius and is on track to open in Matemwe in October 2025. We’re also working with tour operators and suppliers on offers in December – just in time for peaks.
