A must-visit is the National Museum of Lithuania in Vilnius. As well as being the country’s oldest museum, it also houses its largest collection of cultural artefacts, with more than 800,000 items documenting the story of Lithuanian life from Neolithic times to the present day.
At the open-air museum of Orvidai Homestead, visitors can explore the stone sculptures folk and religious figures among woodland, while majestic granite sculptures are on show at the Vilnoja Stone Sculpture Park, on the shore of Lake Vilnoja.
From grand castles to wood‑panelled cottages, there’s a mosaic of building designs across Lithuania’s cities and countryside. On the outskirts of Kaunas, the baroque-style Pažaislis Monastery is nestled among verdant woodland on the edge of the Kaunas Reservoir. There’s also an impressive domed church, the Sacral Heritage Museum and fine‑dining restaurant Monte Pacis.

The best way to get a real taste of Lithuanian culture is by experiencing the country’s cuisine.
Recommend your clients head to one of the numerous local restaurants putting a modern spin on delicacies such as šaltibarščiai (cold beetroot soup) and the stuffed potato dumplings known as cepelinai or experience farm-to-table dining, which showcases Lithuania’s seasonal fruit and vegetables. The most adventurous of foodies shouldn’t miss the chance to sample the specialities of cucumber jam, snail pie and nettle ice cream.

To fully appreciate Lithuania’s vibrant culture, recommend a stay in Vilnius or Kaunas, which are both easily accessible from international airports.
