The Exodus Travels Foundation has so far raised more than £10,000 through its emergency appeal to provide aid to those affected by Covid-19 in Nepal and India.
It surpassed the £10,000 less than a week after launching the appeal.
The foundation is the charitable arm of adventure operator Exodus Travels.
The aim of the appeal is to provide food and health essentials for Exodus Travels’ porters, guides and other staff, as well as families in local communities.
Destination teams have already distributed packages to the 200 families around the Kanha Tiger Reserve in India.
Exodus Travels is working closely with its partners to extend the reach of this aid.
Kasia Morgan, head of communities and sustainability at Exodus Travels, said: “We’ve heard from our partners in both countries about the impact of not only the health crisis, but also of the growing levels of need caused by the ongoing pause in global tourism – previously a key source of income for so many.”
