Fourth A World for Travel conference to take place in Seville

The fourth A World for Travel sustainability conference is to take place in Seville from October 17 to 19.

The two-day event aims to encourage transformation of the industry with a focus on five themes: climate, environmental, technological, economic and social.

It is organised in collaboration with the Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council, with guests and speakers including government officials, tourism ministers and leaders from the private sector.

Confirmed industry participants include Amadeus, Ponant, Radisson Hotel Group and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, with media outlets including the BBC and CBS News also taking part alongside government bodies and NGOs including the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Global Travel and Tourism Partners and the GBTA.

Organisers are also collaborating closely with the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) and the host city of Seville, which was recently announced as the European Capital of Smart Tourism.

Christian Delom, the conference’s secretary general, said: “After building awareness and varieties of experimentation, the travel and tourism industry must shift towards the future. It is time to scale up the sustainable transformation of the sector.

“The five themes allow us to spotlight and convert behaviours, business models, products and services and even influence consumers’ experience. A World for Travel 2023 will provide the best of Seville, showing its award-winning leadership as the European capital of Smart Tourism 2023.”

Referring to the event’s partners, he added: “The Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council accelerates resilience through identification of key leadership schemes in industry and TIS promotes technological innovation to provide industry with solutions.”

Attendance at A World for Travel is limited to 400 participants, and the 2023 edition will include inaugural awards recognising excellence in the five pillars of focus. Attendees will also have access to attend TIS.
