G Adventures adds 25 new trips to Active travel portfolio

G Adventures has added 25 new tours to its Active travel portfolio, which grew by 16% in 2024.

The new trips will take travellers to new, lesser-explored regions in destinations such as Japan, South Africa, Pakistan, the Balkans, Morocco, the Galapagos and Peru.

The holidays have a “strong” focus on supporting local communities as well as activities such as hiking, swimming, cycling and paddling.

The additions include eight new trips in Japan, three in Morocco and two in Pakistan.

Yves Marceau, G Adventures’ product vice-president, said: “Travellers are seeking authentic experiences, but active ones, too. Interest has soared in this category, with more travellers wanting to switch off and connect with the world on a more physical level.

“We’ve hand-picked destinations with the intention of looking beyond the usual trails and, instead, are bringing travellers to lesser-visited regions and villages, via incredible hiking routes, kayak trips and biking excursions, helping to support local communities who haven’t been able to benefit from tourism in the past.”

New trips include Active Japan: North to South Adventure, an 18-day trip that includes hiking in Hokkaido’s national parks, snorkelling in Okinawa, paddling through Iriomote’s mangroves and cycling on Taketomi Island. It costs from £6,899.

Active South Africa: Cape Town, Kruger & Tugela Falls includes abseiling Table Mountain, a mountain lodge owned by the local Batlokoa (Sotho) community and an eco-friendly tented camp in the Prideslands Conservancy in Kruger National Park. It costs from £2,879 for 10 days.

Pakistan: Hike the Karakoram Mountains is a 10-day trip to a new destination for G Adventures. It focuses on the Thallay La Trail and costs from £1,879.

Hiking in Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro costs from £1,549 for nine days, while Active Galápagos & Machu Picchu is priced from £3,949 for 17 days.

Prices exclude international flights.
